This week's edition of This & That is centered around Victorian Maiden's new Plant Garden series which was just up for reserve. I love the soft romantic feel to the print on this dress. It so understated and elegant. I also think the halter version of the dress is quite versatile and unique. It's not a shape I normally see in Lolita and it can easily transition into a 1950s inspired look. As for the nail polish, I just though it went so well with the dress. I admit the fact that it is from Betsey Johnson's new collection with Sephora by OPI may have strongly influenced my choice. This one is most definitely on my list to buy. It's such a soft, pretty seafoam colour (at least in photos, I can't speak for in person yet). I think it goes well with the blue shading in the flowers. Matching without being matchy-matchy.
So wear this Betsey Johnson for OPI nail polish in Cartwheels on the Catwalk with that Victorian Maiden Halter Dress from the Plant Garden Series.

Fashion Week Favourites 2: London
After New York Fashion Week moves to London for another whirlwind round of shows and designs. Much like New York I had a hard time narrowing down to five that I loved the most to showcase here. However, I really did like these looks, so I'm not unhappy with my selections.
What was your favourite collection from London Fashion Week? (Doesn't have to be one of these)
* Photos from Elle.com except Mary Katrantzou from LondonFashionWeek.co.uk
- Vivienne Westwood Red Label - I love this look. The dress is one we typically associate with the office, but has been styled in an easy casual manner with a white henley and boyfriend cardigan. I have a small plaid obsession and the colours in this dress are just divine. I can definitely see trying a look like this. I've always admired dresses similar to this but was lost at how to make it less "office" and more "school".
- Burberry Prorsum - I admit I am not a huge Burberry fan, but I do think they have some amazing trench coats. The belt with it's little bow is what made me fall for this look. I also like the stripes across the bottom. A classic look with a little twist.
- Moschino Cheap & Chic - This look plays into the popular trend of colour blocking. I admit I'm a bit surprised at how much I like this look. The yellow, green, and black compliment each other very well. I also like the added red shoes and pink bag, I think they are a bit unexpected, especially the bag.
- McQ by Alexander McQueen - Alexander McQueen puts out some of the most unique pieces out there. This sub-label is certainly lives up to it's parent design house. I love the black lace, the tulle and shape of this dress, fun and classic. Actually the shape is a bit Lolita, no? The multi-coloured florals are so much fun, I think the 3D effect is pretty awesome. The belt grounds the look and I appreciate the relatively simple black shoes allowing the dress to shine.
- Mary Katrantzou - I admit until about a month ago I had never heard of this designer. After flipping through photos of her past collections and this one I can now declare myself a fan. I love the colours and flowy materials of this dress. To be honest I had hard time not posting tons of pictures on here from her show, I love it that much. There is an air of uniqueness to her designs, I can tell immediately when a design is hers. I can't do that for everyone. PS did you see? She has a line coming out for Top Shop!

MM: Juliet ハルラブ
I first learned of this trio through an interview they did with Misako and Tenchim for Kawaii Girl Japan on YouTube. I loved their Gyaru style and this song became an instant favourite. I think the instrumentals and all three voices are very pretty. Of the three members I especially love Yumi's look the most, but I do very much like Maiko and Hami's too.
Check out the Kawaii Girl Japan interview part one here!
To make this a bit more Lolita and spring appropriate I changed from a little hooded coat to a blazer. To make the look more similar to the original just add a bit of gold trim to surround the buttons.
Rundown
Blazer: Innocent World
Shirt: Forever21
Skirt: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright
Boots: Dr. Martens
Headbow: Angelic Pretty

Fashion Week Favourites pt 1: NYC
Fashion Week always brings a certain amount of excitement, even if you are like me and can't attend all the amazing shows. Thanks to the internet, it is now easy to access clear photos and videos of the shows almost instantly (or live if the show is streamed online). For the Fall 2012 Fashion Week I have been trying to take in as much as I can. So for the first time I have decided to do a mini-series of posts showcasing my favourite looks from shows that caught my particular attention. Even though there is a lot I love, I have narrowed it down to five shows per city.
The first city is none other than New York City where fashion week kicks off.
Stay tuned for London next!

The first city is none other than New York City where fashion week kicks off.
- Anna Sui - She is one of my all time favourite designers, so much of what she creates I just love. I now also have fond memories attached to her shows because I was able to sit front row at her Fall 2011 show. I just adore her almost vintage styles and prints, there is a playful and youthful vibe to her look that I can't get enough of. Oh, and the colours she chooses! Yet here I showcase a white and gold look, go figure!
I just love the 1920s feel to this look. White and gold is one of my favourite colour combos. Plus look at that hat!
This coat is so divine, I love that the design is on the sleeves as well
- Betsey Johnson - I am a long time fan of Betsey Johnson. I have loved her since I was in middle school. Throughout high school any time there was an even that required a fancy dress I went immediately to her store. She is just so fun and I love her prints and patterns.
Look at that crazy hat. I love the knits and the green/purple together. Also those shoes are pretty fabulous.
- Marc Jacobs - It wasn't until recent seasons that Marc Jacobs caught my attention. There's just something about his designs I adore. I can almost pick out his items on a page in a fashion magazine, usually they are my favourites in the spread.
I love the added pop of colour from the purple pocket square and hot pink gloves.
- Ralph Lauren - His collection this season is amazing. I am in love with it, especially the menswear inspired looks. Many are referring to Downton Abbey when discussing this collection and I can definitely see why! I've just started the show, by the way.
I love the fitted lace detailed bodice, flowy skirt, and the neckline.
- Tadashi Shoji - This designer is new to me, but I love the flowy dresses and lace. The collection has a bit of 1920s glamour to it. If there is one era I love it is definitely the 20s (as you can probably tell from this post).
Stay tuned for London next!
